The bull shark is commonly found worldwide in coastal areas of warm oceans, in rivers, and occasionally salt and freshwater streams if they are deep enough.

The name "bull shark" comes from the shark's stocky shape, broad, flat snout, and aggressive, unpredictable behavior.

The bull shark is a diadromous, meaning they can swim between salt and fresh water with ease.

Their diet consists mainly of bony fish and small sharks, including other bull sharks, but can also include turtles, birds, dolphins, terrestrial mammals, crustaceans, echinoderms, and stingrays.

Bull sharks have an unusual migratory pattern in comparison to other sharks since they are found in rivers all over the world. They give birth in the fresh water of rivers. The young bull sharks are free from predators while they grow up in the river before they go out to the sea to find mates.

The season usually kicks off in late November and ends in early March. This is why we recommend January and February for this encounter.

We Dive to about 23 meters or 70 ft and stay in the sand for about 20 minutes to enjoy the show, and then we move to the other diving Spot in the reef to about 14 meters.

Morning Itinerary (4 Hours):

  • 8:00 am - Ferry to Playa Del Carmen
  • 9:30 am - Boat departure to Bull Shark Dive
  • 9:45-10 am - Start Diving With Bull Shark
  • 12:30 pm - Return to Isla Mujeres

IMPORTANT: We are at the mercy of sea and weather conditions as well as diving may be challenging for some people, locations may vary based on weather conditions and visibility, we highly recommend to have at least two days of stay on the island for a better weather window.
